    This is the only place I get my birthday cakes from. I always have vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. They decorate the cake adorably. Only downside is that the entire store takes vacation for a week or two during the summer, usually during the day that it's my birthday, so I have to plan around.

    By far the best bakery in the northwest suburbs. Their cream puffs are huge, with fresh whip cream filling. Their cookies are decadent. And if you're in need of a mind blowing cake for any event, order it from Jarosch. Your guests will thank you!

    Four stars are NOT for the clerk who squeezed the whip cream out of our cream puff and gave us two special children's cookies for our kids crammed into a tiny bag so the antler was broken off of the moose and his leg was missing! Not even in the bag so, you gave us a reject?! Ugh! Don't do that again! The cream puff was nice, though. Lots of whip cream!

    On September 1 I ordered a cake from Jarosch bakery. It was supposed to be devils food whipped cream cake with strawberry filling instead it was yellow cake not devils food. So they made me another cake for September 6 and again it was supposed to be devils food instead it was light chocolate. I don't know what you think devils food should be but it is not light chocolate devils food is dark chocolate. I was disappointed once again that I did not get a devils food cake from your bakery. Although it was very good it is not what I asked for. The bakery has delicious baked goods but is inconsistent when it comes to getting exactly what you want...

    I've never actually been to Jarosch Bakery so I have no idea how their service is, BUT I have enjoyed gobbling up a wide variety of their tasty treats over the years that coworkers have brought in and that my husband has brought home. Everything I've had from them, from cupcakes to cookies to coffee cakes and pastries has been perfectly scrumptious. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and they put a lot of care and time in to their decorated cakes & cupcakes. Most recently The Hubs brought home some of their fancier cupcakes (one each of a Pina Colada, Dreamsicle and Honey Creme) and he said they were only $2.50 each! Based on how cute they were decorated and how much of the delicious frosting was on each I would have expected them to charge more. :-)

    This is classic, old school bakery even though it is in a strip mall. We went on a Saturday around Noon thinking it wouldn't be busy. I couldn't believe the line but it moved pretty quickly. I scouted the counter deciding what to order and trying my best to limit myself. The butter cookies, breads, pastries all looked fantastic. I decided on the Apricot graham cracker bar and a piece of tiramisu. The tiramisu was fantastic. I only wish that I had bought two pieces so I didn't have to share mine. The world needs more bakeries like this.

    If you like brownies, cupcakes, butter cookies, or just sugar in general, you'll love Jarosch. If you like old school bakeries where you take a number, you'll love Jarosch. A few years ago my friend bought a birthday cake for her son. I don't normally like birthday cake, but I loved this one. Where was it from? Jarosch. My friend Sarah S. brought me brownies for my birthday. They were the best brownies ever. Where were they from? Jarosch. So after making plans again with Sarah to meet up at an area brewery, I knew this was the best opportunity for me to go to Jarosch. My estimated 38 minute trip suddenly turned into 1 hour, 10 minutes when I turned on the radio and heard there was an overturned vehicle, and all but one lane was open on I-88. There were no exits between myself and I-355 - right where the accident happened. I clutched the steering wheel, grit my teeth, texted my friend Sarah S. and silently told myself that I WOULD get to Jarosch that day. No irresponsible driver in their fancy sedan is going to stop me! Thank God they are open later on Fridays. I arrived a little less than 2 hours before closing time. They were sold out of brownies, so while I was disappointed I wasn't surprised. I chose a half-pound of butter cookies, 2 Dreamsicle cupcakes, and 1 Pina Colada cupcake. The butter cookies are unreal. They aren't crunchy or starchy at all, they're soft and practically melt in your mouth. My favorites are the ones covered in chocolate. The cupcakes on display appear to be seasonal flavors, and I loved the Dreamsicle. I haven't eaten the Pina Colada yet, but the frosting on both is substantial and probably the perfect ratio of cake to frosting. Kolacky, donuts, loaves of bread, cream puffs, cake slices, whole cakes, yes they have all of that too. If your heart is set on something specific, like those brownies, get here earlier in the day. I had no problem picking from the endless variety still available when I got there though. I don't know that I would want to sit in gridlock traffic on I-88 again for butter cookies and cupcakes, but I would certainly come back here. And if you live or work in the area and haven't been to Jarosch, shame on you!

    This bakery has been my family's go to bakery since I was a kid, and I even got my wedding cake from here. Lately though, it seems like things have been changing. The custard in the donuts and cakes seems different. It's not creamy anymore and looks like the same kind you would find at Dunkin Donuts. Ew. The last few times we have been there it's been very disappointing. I hope they change back to way things used to be because it was perfect.

    Best Bakery I have ever been to. I live in San Diego and when we go back to visit we go there. Swedish Flat...awesomeness!!. Butter cookies great..we had a friend Visit from Chicago she brought us 2 boxes and they are still good 5 days later.

    This family-owned bakery can trace a solid lineage of pastry wizards and bread magicians all the way back to 19th century Germany. Don't let the tradition and heritage here fool you, though. Their products are made with a very modern sensibility. My favorite things to come here for are seasonal treats, like apple pie cupcakes in the fall (mmm, pie filling inside!) or classic heart-shaped sugar cookies for valentine's day. For Halloween this year, they had very creative if very frosting-heavy monster cupcakes, complete with sparkly, spiky "fur." There are different specials every day, including donuts of the day. I've never tried anything from here that I didn't like, but some items that are decorated to look amazing don't taste as good as they look (see aforementioned monster cupcakes). They also run out of certain items fast. Call ahead or come prepared with a Plan B if you want something specific, although showing up at random and trying to choose from the many delicious choices is also fun. Lest you think they're all about sweets, I'll recommend the croissants and potato bread. Try it for a hearty sandwich or for dipping.

    Love. Love. Love! This has been our go to place for sweets of any kind since we moved here almost 2 years ago. We have tried everything from the bread (the garlic bread is so good- reminds me of what my mom made when I was a kid) to the cake has been amazing. Their coffee cakes have now become holiday traditions for breakfast. My kids go nuts for the donuts. Give them a try- you won't be sorry

    I drove past this bakery every day to and from work for the last 6 weeks and didn't notice it until Saturday. I decided to stop in on a Monday afternoon on my way home from work and was promptly greeted and told the girl it was my first time here I would like to look around a little bit. She let me have my space and when I was ready to order, I just spoke up. Her name was Ellie and she was so super helpful!! She walked me through all of my questions and did a great job up-selling! I came in looking for one item and left with four- but felt NO pressure what so ever. They make their own cream filling for the Bavarian donuts and the eclairs- AMAZING! The butter cookies are so tender and out of this world- better than any others I have ever had and the cake donut and pecan sweet roll were top notch. I will definitely be back

    The butter chocolate turtle cookies, oh my goodness the best ever. These are not average cookies...AMAZINGLY GOOD! Actually, all baked products I have purchased are phenomenal. I do not purchase donuts anymore from Dunkin Donuts. Not that they are bad but when you can have the best, Jarosch is the best! Highly recommend this bakery!

    My family has been going to this bakery since before I was born. We get all of our special occasion cakes here and scoff at the idea of going anywhere else. Our family is a die hard sweets family and cake is a big deal to us. Every upcoming event draws the question, did you order the cake? It is family owned and everyone is so nice and helpful and you are treated like family. When I walk in most times I'm greeted by name, which is partially embarrassing as it shows how often I'm there ;-) People travel from Naperville and the city to come to here and those who move away have family members send them stuff :) yes they do ship. They make their cookies on Mondays and Tuesdays, so if you like the yellow fondant stars (yellow butter cookie with fudge and sprinkles) be sure to get them when they are fresh and still a little squishy, they are SO good. When I travel I bring a pound with me for snacking on the flight and I'm always so glad I did. They also offer slices of most of their popular cakes so it's a great chance to try something new without ordering the whole cake. They work with you on the design of the decorated cakes - all you have to do is bring photos and describe what you want. For a dinner party I ordered a cake and they did a beautiful contemporary design that wasn't so birthday party-ish. It was gorgeous and people still talk about that cake to this day. That's how good this place is, you think about it and crave it days and months later. The go-to cake for all family parties is the Devilsfood with fudge filling and buttercream icing. My family will not accept any other cake. We order ours with 3 layers of fudge, you have to specify that otherwise it comes with only 2 layers. This cake is so good when served cold, but it's equally good at room temp. For Christmas we order it with the Let It Snow theme and it's gorgeous. The other main cake is the Devilsfood with whipped cream - it's light and delicious and it's the cake that most people request at dinner parties since it isn't heavy. When they put buttercream flowers or decor on this cake it takes it to another level and the combination is so so good!     I used Jarosch Bakery for a simple wedding cake. At first I was a bit uncertain of the professionalism of the establishment because I had sent them an email tasting inquiry from their site and they had never gotten back to me. But when I called them up a few days later, they were friendly and quick to accommodate me at schedule an appointment. Once I walked it, I realized that it was a family run, small bakery and so they probably didn't have someone consistently manning the site and email responses. I had put down a $25 tasting fee before I walked into the bakery, which at first I was irked about, but not only did they tell me it would be deducted from my cake cost, should I get one from them, but I realized why they needed it; they had baked an entire cake with my requested cake flavors and frostings on each layer. Looking back on it, it seems that that would be the best way to give someone an idea of how a fresh cake would taste, but it was wonderful because I could take home the rest of the cake and have my husband, friends and family give me their input on the cake as well. I only wanted a 14" round cake, no tiers, and they were very accommodating and willing to work with me. I got a red velvet cake and I provided them with some cake toppers and lots of decor toppers (Fake leaves, fake acorns, and paper flowers) for them to arrange as they saw fit. I told them they didn't need to use all of it my any means, but make it pretty, as I trusted their eye. While the cake I received was wonderful and beautiful, I was a bit surprised that they did in fact use all of the decor I gave them. It seemed a bit busy and crowded to me; but that was a very small concern of mine. The cake itself was wonderful. I'm always a huge fan of red velvet, and this bakery knows how to do it right. I highly recommend their wares, they do beautiful work!

    This is the ONLY bakery I TRUST. My boyfriend introduced me to this place a couple of years ago, and Jarosch is now my go to spot for specialty cakes, most especially at the last minute. My most recent cake order was for my bf's birthday. His bday was on the 15th, I ordered the cake on 3/13. They need at least 48 hours notice. I live almost an hour away and I was planning to spend the weekend in Chicago. It didn't make sense for me to go from the city, out to Jarosch, and back to the city. I had looked at other bakeries in the city and emailed a couple of them before contacting Jarosch. I'm thankful to these other bakeries for contacting me so quick, and most of them said they could not do my cake on short notice, and one bakery said they needed me to come in w a picture for my bf's face cake since their printer was down. Again, I live in the suburbs and did not intend to make the trip downtown just to drop off this picture, of which I would still have to print out myself. After all this, this is when I contacted Jarosch, because I TRUST them. I almost canceled the cake bc the traveling did not fit in with our plans on 3/15. When I called on 3/14, the girl on the phone, I'm sorry I forgot her name, was sweet enough to let me cancel. She said the set up was done and that all they needed to do was decorate it. I asked her if I would be able to pick it up that day, and her answer was if I come in after 1pm, sure. I was sold. I arrived at 1:15 and my cake was ready!!!!! Ready in time for me to enjoy the rest of the birthday weekend with my boyfriend. Long story short I was able to pick up my special cake in less than 48 hours. Yes I live an hour away but until I find a bakery that will give me what I want, Jarosch is worth the travel.

    I don't see how anyone could rate this place less than 5 stars. I am not ashamed to say that I'm a regular here. I work at a large company, and whenever I bring that iconic Jarosch box to work, my colleagues become uncontrollable ravenous beasts. That's too be expected though because it's Jarosch. Everything that Jarosch makes is delicious. I usually stick to the donuts and pastries, but I've tried their cookies and cakes which were obviously incredible. Don't worry if there's a line when you get in, just pull your number and the kind ladies that work there will get to you as soon as possible. My one and only grievance with Jarosch is that every year they close down for a couple of weeks in the summer, so that the whole bakery can have some time off. I understand that it's a great benefit for the employees, but I NEED MY DONUTS!

    I almost tinkled myself walking up to this place because the cakes in the window were decorated so beautifully. I walked in, grabbed a number and nervously tried to decide what I wanted to order. Thankfully I only had a $6 budget or I would have ordered almost one of everything! The variety and presentation of everything was outstanding. I did find it hard to read what kind of goodies were on the back wall (damn old eyes). I ordered then later devoured a cinnamon pershing. I had to be so very delicate with this treat as it was super soft and squishy from being fresh. Ahhh...sugary, doughy heaven. Sorry Dinkles, you have been replaced with a cheaper, better bakery for me!

    I live in seattle and my birthday is this Monday. I just received my favorite, 2 chocolate chip coffeecakes, in the mail. i'm originally from Chicago, and I started going to jarosch when I 20...I will be 58 on Monday. as depressing as "that" is, I just spoke to Kathy jarosch on the phone and told her I just received the best birthday gift from her bakery. they also take such care when shipping somewhere else. the coffeecake was cut in two, placed on cardboard, and vacuumed sealed. I told her I was going to slice up the coffeecakes and put them in the freezer to eat on a timeline...who am I kidding? thank you for being one of the best bakeries in Chicago.

    I'm not a particularly emotional person. I've been told I lack empathy, I don't really cry unless there's a cat hair clump in my mascara and according to my mother, I have a cold, black heart... just like my father. But there are a few things I recognize as deserving emotional value- #1. Animals and #2. Food. I don't know why, but those things just pull at my heart strings and pretty much define my mood on any given day, so you can imagine my feverish fervour when I walked into a nearly empty Jarosch (I've heard the rumored wait times for early morning office treats) a few weeks back. Admittedly, I've never found myself to be big fan of old school bakeries. Mostly because the ones my mom loved and would drag me too as a child had those little Italian cookies in all sorts of fun shapes and varieties that looked really great, but tasted dry as f*ck. She'd always make me pick out cookies and I'd be all like, 'No. Please. Don't make me eat those cookies.', but she, for whatever reason, had some sort of emotional attachment to crummy old school bakery cookies and wouldn't let us leave until I chose something. It was like she needed me to like them or something so I'd just go with it and tell her to get me a smiley face that I knew would be hard and dry and probably pretty tasteless to appease her and her memories of eating them as a child and loving them. Walking in to Jarosch immediately reminded of those 'bad bakeries' but tasting Jarosch gave a new and wonderful frame of convection reference. It was hard to decide what I wanted with so many options. Everything from fresh baked bread to doughnuts to custom cakes to cookies to cupcakes, coffee cakes, sweet buns, and so much more. Still scarred for life with those little italian cookies, I avoided the novelty looking ones and got a few kolacky, a couple doughnuts (some didn't even make it out of the parking lot) and bunch of 'sweet buns' (basically a danish) in various flavors since they had so many varieties. I think I got the standard apricot and cheese and then I pointed to this one that was filled with a cool purple-ish filling but then the kid helping me said it was prune and I kind of barfed a little and decided to pass. I'm regular enough without that ish. They also had a pretty cray selection of holiday treats in fun flavors like cupcakes with 'Santa Cookies' and Hot Chocolate peppermint and they even had this giant round coffee cake that looked like pizza. I wanted it so hard but I knew I was already going to lie to my mental calorie counter about I'd already ordered so I decided to leave this mega treat for another visit. The total for my bag of goodies was a little over $8. I was elated as I thought it'd be so much more. My only beef is that the older women working there were looking at me like I was some sort 30-year old hood rat looking to cause trouble. It's probably because I look straight cray without make-up, but I thought it was kind of bogus that they gave me the crazy eye for taking business pics and smiling real big at the pastries because I was just so damn excited. Luckily, the young kid helping me was much friendlier and didn't seem nearly as afraid of me as the ladies did. I'll definitely be back, but next time I'll *try* not to look so hideous as to scare the pastry people.

    Oh how I wish there was a Jarosch Bakery in Austin, TX... This place is excellent! My only complaint is that they run out of my favorite thing fairly quickly (bc they are such an EXCELLENT bakery), so I always call ahead to make sure it's still available or I pre-order it to make sure I get my yummy yellow cupcakes with buttercream frosting. Boring? Not so! Jarosch has the BEST cupcakes. And their cakes are to die for. A friend turned me on to sort of a custom cake...Banana cake with custard filling and buttercream icing...OMG...sooooo incredibly yummy. And of course their yellow and chocolate cakes are exquisite as well. I'm trying a red velvet cupcake today, so I'm sure I'll be able to add that the list of yummiest cakes... And some idle chitchat...I complimented them on their superior customer service and spoke with the super helpful lady about my disappointment with the local bakery in Round Rock TX and she was SHOCKED that a bakery would have poor customer service like that...NICE TO KNOW that Jarosch Bakery takes their customer service seriously as well as their kick butt baking skills...I always stop here when I'm in town...at least ONCE...if not more... AWESOME...AMAZING...YUMMY...

    I originally came to Jarosch to get my pÄ…czki on during PÄ…czki Fest. I think they do a good job, but I am quite partial to Central Continental Bakery's. However, there are a few things that I pick up after my recently added routine of stopping at nearby Barrington Orthopedic Specialists. We ordered a bag full of assorted goodies and they were hit or miss. It wasn't that they were bad, but some of them weren't items that I would purchase again. I find the chocolate and coffee flavored cakes to be a bit dry and overly abundant in the sugar department. I much prefer their straightforward savory snacks. My most favorite pastry of theirs is the Apple Black Raspberry Ring. The dough is buttery and flakey and it has a good amount of fruit flavoring distributed on the top. The rings are very large and last me a long time. Again, the only critique I could give is that I feel there is a bit too much of the sweet icing swirl. I'm trying to lose weight, so I tend to bring the ring to work with me, slice off a few pieces the first couple days, and then put it in the break room for my coworkers to enjoy. It flies off the counter. People love it!

    Packed is a good sign in a Bakery! We were visiting some friends in Durand, Il and stopped off the get hem some rye bread, some rollsa nd a dessert. We had thought about a coffee cafe but wound up getting a strawberry apple open faced tart that was just incredible. Watch the screen while you wait, brownies were 1/2 price! So it's worth wqtching.

    I'm not a baked good kind of guy, by any means... but Jarosch's makes me a happy camper. Their cupcakes are quite good. Problems are prices and cupcake size. They could be cheaper and the cupcakes could be bigger. Then again they are very competetive with other gourmet bakeries. Lesson of the day for all of you - Polish people just bake better. I'm not Polish but will admit defeat on this one. Damn do they rock it out and Jarosch's is the cream of crop.

    I had received a cookie box for Christmas that was from Jarosch, and after trying their butter cookies, I knew I had to visit! Right when you walk in, the sweet aroma of baked wonders fill your senses. There was no turning back. I don't know what they put in their butter cookies here, but they are by far the best I have ever had. I literally could sit down and eat a whole box of them myself. The cookie is soft - melt in your mouth texture. The frosting that some of them are dipped in is not frosting at all - more like almond bark or chocolate. Perfect. Give me 5 million. They have plenty to choose from - cupcakes, cakes, breads, pastries, doughnuts, you name it. We came a little later in the day, so many of the goodies were picked over - something to keep in mind for next time. We did get a sample (that always wins me over), and it was amazing just like everything else. When you come here, you need to take a number - yes, that is how busy it gets. There is also an 'in' door and an 'out' door to keep traffic flowing. Honestly, I've never been to a bakery that had that before!

    This bakery is around the corner from the home I have lived in my entire life. Needless to say, I have always found Dunkin Donuts to be disgusting because I have been spoiled with these my whole life! Everything I have ever tasted from this bakery is amazing and also looks amazing! My favorites are the little pink heart-shaped butter cookies, the cinnamon twist donuts, the little bunny cakes for easter and any flavor cupcakes!!! You also can't grow up in Elk Grove without eating smiley face cookies!! This bakery never disappoints! I hope to one day have a beautiful wedding cake from Jarosch!

    I just order 2 custom cakes for my sons 1st birthday. Lets start by saying that it took an HOUR to order a 6inch cake and a 1/2 sheet cake. The lady taking the order knew absolutely nothing. I honestly do not know how people order these fancy cakes on their website. My husband took in a photo of a 6 inch cake with polka dots and a small whale on top. You would have thought I wanted them to reconstruct a building. That is how difficult it was to order. Once I was informed that the whale and polka dots would take this small smash cake from $6 to $46 I decided a "1" with the dots would be just fine. The 1/2 sheet cake was to match with the dots and say Happy First Birthday and our sons name. I knew after talking to my husband several times during the ordering process it wasn't going to turn out how I wanted. Let me clarify that it was all buttercream we didn't do any thing too fancy. When my husband picked up the cakes he called me and said they looked fine. We live an hour from this bakery so when he arrived home and the cakes were NOT good I had no choice but to keep them for the next days party. The smash cake was just fine. I wasn't overly concerned about that one because well, it's getting smashed. However, the 1/2 sheet literally looked like I made it at home. If an experienced decorator made this cake, then this bakery is in trouble. The writing, the "1" and entire set up was terrible. I was so let down especially with how much the cake was! (Over $50 bucks) Seems to me if your not getting roses, your not going to get a quality product. Though I'm still trying to figure out how you mess up polka dots?! VERY DiSAPPOINTING!,,

    I would classify Jarosch as one of the best bakeries in Chicagoland; certainly one of the best in the suburbs. We've been going to Jarosch for years - when my kids were born and we have people over, we catered the sweets table from there. We've used them for other family events. And, we used them for my son's senior guitar recital and at his college graduation. Today, I was driving to work a little late. I'd just stopped by Mitsuwa Marketplace to pick something up to bring in for lunch and decided I would bring in sweets for the folks who work for me. At 10am on a Monday they were quite busy - there must have been ten people ahead of me. But, that gave me time to scour through their cases and decide on exactly what to get. I had wanted to get their Elephant Ears, which are just incredible, but as it turns out they only make them on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But, something they don't normally have and only make for special orders are Petit Fours. At $1.50 each, I took all they had. To fill out the rest, I got a dozen cupcakes, 6 white cake with chocolate frosting, and 6 chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Now, the funny part of this is I can't eat any of this - daily allergy. The only thing Jarosch carries without Milk products are some of their breads and the Elephant Ears. Since I was going for sweets, I didn't get to sample even one. But, everyone who did eat any of what I brought raved.

    Austrian cheesecake ($10.90) - 4.5 stars. Delicious cinnamon strudel crumb topping. One of my favorite cheesecakes. Not overly dense. Sweet roll ($1.46) - 1 star. I picked this because it looked like the flaky, dreamy cheese pocket I had from Sauer's Bakery (similar powdered topping). But Jarosch's version was bready instead of pastry-like, and it was unforgiveably dry on the inside without any filling. Would not recommend this item. Pecan loaf ($6.90 for half) - 4 stars. Candied pecan crust was the best part. Nice distribution of pecans on the inside. Luckily, it didn't have a dry texture. Mini eclair ($1.20) - 3.5 stars. Good, but I don't see myself ordering it again. Frosting was forgettable. The service was average. Of the items that I've tried, the only one that I could see myself ordering again would be the cheesecake.

I have gotten several birthday cakes from here and I often stop in on my days off for some treats to eat in the park across the street. The staff is really friendly and the goods are top notch.     Returned for donuts one morning. They were packed at 6:30am! I know right? I ordered two dozen of assorted donuts. The donuts were so good! OMG! People who usually pass on eating the carbs gave it a try because we raved about the taste. A few carb strikers had a second. So what does that tell you? By far, they are the best in the area and worth a 20 minute drive.

    I could eat my way through Jarosch Bakery. Eat my way into a diabetic, sugar glazed coma from copious amounts of turtle cookies, cheesecake slices, cake balls, coffee cake and more. Every time I come in here I'm smiling. As long as I leave with a box, I'm smiling on the way out, too. Staff are quite friendly and offer samples here and there, so definitely indulge if you get the chance. While I'd like to say I've liked *everything* I've eaten here, it's worth noting that I'm not a fan of the old fashioned cheesecake. It's an egg white base cake with not nearly the sugar content and fatty goodness of the NY style. Regardless, I love Jarosch and think their coffee cakes and turtle cookies are tops in the 'burbs.

    This rating is based on a birthday cake I picked up recently. All the other pastries looked delicious. I thought I would get a cake similar to one pictured on their web site: a traditional two layer cake. What I got instead was four layers of cake the height of a bread slice each and the rest all icing. It was like 75% buttercream filling and frosting and 25% cake. Apparently this style is their default birthday cake. Will not buy another birthday cake from here again.

    Ah, nothing like Jarosch Bakery to satisfy my sweet tooth after lunch at Tensuke Market. From the sweet smells and the wonderment from seeing all the different confections so gloriously displayed, this place is too good to pass up. Hyperbole? As Al Borlan from Home Improvement used to say, "I don't think so, Tim." We come here for the cookies but the cakes are just as enticing. Our favorite cookies are the oatmeal raisin and the butter jumble; give them a try! The staff is friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and there's always a good number of people here when I visit so you know they're doing something right.

    I went with my friends after lunch again yesterday.. They have so many cool Christmas treats right now! Their prices are better than my favorite bakery in the area Deerfield Bakery. Cupcakes are just $2.20 here in very cool flavors and decorated in a really fun way. On this trip I got: Peppermint Ganache Cupcake - Very cool flavor combination! Bits of candy cane peppermint on the top pair great with the chocolate ganache and puffy cream filling on top of this cupcake. Very unique and truly tasty bite! Hot Cocoa Cupcake - This one was so cute! It had sparkles all over it, the frosting was the color of hot cocoa & tiny marshmallows were on top!. Loved it! If you want to impress with cupcakes, come here & buy a bunch! These cupcakes are normal sized so don't expect big honkin' ones like you get at specialty cupcake shops. 1/15/12 Update: Jarosch also sells donuts which they call Fry Cakes. Fry cakes indeed! They are so tasty and delicious, better than other bakeries which shall not be named in the area. Fair warning though, they are a bit more expensive than the other bakeries coming in at $4.44 a pop! The double chocolate donuts are dynamite though!

    If you need help with a cake order, look for Sarah. She is amazing! So sweet and so helpful! Since there's a ticket system in place, it was just by random that I had Sarah help me with my cake order. Event cakes are a big deal, but throw a life event or a milestone birthday and the cake order takes on epic proportions. Jarosch has a great website and an on-line photo album of their cake designs, but they didn't have any Western themed designs to show. So my level of anxiety on ordering a cake for my sons first birthday was kind of high. Sarah was awesome. She took the time to help me with ideas and layout and together we put together a pretty awesome design. She kept taking the ideas back to where the decorator was to confirm pricing and whether or not they could do the designs. End result? The cake was amazing. Not only was it gorgeous, but it was delish. (Half Chocolate cake, Half Vanilla cake, layer of white chocolate mousse and strawberries, Buttercream Icing) Pricier than your chain supermarkets but so worth it. Sarah was there the day I picked up the cake and she was genuinely excited for me. I was getting compliments from other customers on the cake design and that made me feel even better for choosing Jarosch for my son's cake. Every time I've visited Jarosch, there is always a family feel to it. And it was certainly evident this time around. PS. visiting a bakery to order a cake always results in bringing home goodies to try. Strawberry Cream Cake--still a fave. Tried the new Margarita Cake. No tequila, but nice hints of lime. Banana Cake--If you like bananas, you MUST try this cake.

    I am glad this place is not on my commute to work nor a place I would usually drive past. The reason is it is just too damn tasty. But every once in a while, if I am lucky, a coworker will bring in a dozen of these amazing treats. It makes you remember why the humble donut ruled America before cupcakes and macarons started popping up like weeds. The chocolate cake donut with white glazing is crispy, moist, and chocolatey. All this while having the perfect amount of sweetness. The cinnamon and sugar donut is equally good, and somehow does not make a mess of sugar falling off when eating it. I don't know how they do it, but I am glad that they do.

    We paid $60 for a cake that was very comparable to one that a person would buy off the self at a grocery store. Based on the quality of it, the cake was worth about $20 at most. My suggestion would be to try something small (like a cupcake) before spending a lot of money here.

    I grew up in the suburbs and my family has been ordering birthday cakes and other desserts for parties from Jarosch for as long as I can remember. Their cakes are spectacular--their whipped cream frosting is perfect, and their buttercream doesn't get that chewy, overly sugary texture that you find with grocery store cakes. So good! And their customer service is wonderful. I called recently to see if they would custom decorate some of their fantastic donuts for a special occasion (after the woman at Deerfield's wouldn't even hear me out--they don't decorate donuts, period). The man I talked at Jarosch was very accommodating and exceptionally polite, and I'm very excited to see how those donuts turn out! If Jarosch could open a location nearer to where I live, I would go there all the time. Wonderful business!

    Woo Hoo! I LOVE JAROSCH BAKERY! (I'm thinking about having this tattooed on me somewhere...) My Grandparents lived in Itasca for years and I remember growing up, sitting at their kitchen table, nibbling on the Swedish flop. Everytime someone came by to visit, they seemed to bring something yummy from Jarosch. Ahhh, those were the days. Fast forward to my wedding day, some twenty years later...Jarosch made and delivered my beautiful cake. It was simple and exactly what I asked for. Delicious and perfect. I also surprised my husband with a groom's cake. A stunning Notre Dame themed cake! He was thrilled...we still can't decide whether it tasted better than it looked or looked better than it tasted. It was awesome! Now, over two years later we still visit on a regular basis. The occasional 8" round buttercream cake, melt in your mouth brownies and perfectly crumbly butter cookies round out my favorite treats. My sister and her boyfriend really like the apple strudel best. Important Jarosch Tip: If you want brownies without nuts, be sure to call the day before. They are a special order item. I love the brownies just the way that they make them, but we have a friend that we surprise sometimes with the world's best brownies and need to call ahead and order them without nuts!

    I'm not ashamed (well, maybe a little) to say I am in Jarosch more than 4 times a month. I am addicted and actually was in there this morning. I have been eating their treats forever and love everything they have to offer. They are able to customize any cakes and pretty much will do anything you ask of them. We get their apple strudel ALOT and because they are so incredible, they often run out so either call in the morning and ask them to hold you one (which they definitely will, if you ask nicely) or they have apple delights that are just as good and individually sized. When they are on their annual vacation and closed for a week, it makes me a little sad, but I know they will be back. We get treats from there for my office on a regular basis and every single time I bring something new in, the office goes nuts. We had a chocolate chip strip today and it was divine. There goods are ALWAYS FRESH because they have to be. They run out at closing every day because it's that good. Side note: you will notice when you walk in, you have to push the doors open. When you leave, they are automatic....figure that one out! Take a drive to 72 and Arlington Heights Rd....I'm sure you will love them as much as I do.

    I have been buying my children's birthday cakes from Jarosch' s for 32 years - never a bad one yet, always do delicious!! One child's BD is 7/13 - right in the middle of their annual 2 week vacation. I've managed to get one for my son and freeze it but this year I let time get away and when I called this morning 7/8) they were closed. It will be a disappointment to not have our BD cake, but not for long. They return on 7/23 and I will be on the phone at 7:30 am to order a belated cake. THEY ARE JUST THAT FABULOUS!!!     This review is mostly for the cakes! If you plan on going there for something else beside cake disregard this :)! ( note: they have DELICIOUS cookies! Go for the cookies! ) My in-laws rave about this place. I beg to differ. Evidently their loyalty must be related to family loyalty. They have gotten their cakes here for ages for all occasions. And with my wedding coming up they have been pushing this place. I have tried almost every cake from this place and every combo and have found most if not all of the cakes dry and lacking in flavor. There are only two exceptions to this ( the lemon filling and the mocha filling )! The lemon filling is amazing! I have never had such a delicious lemon filling in a cake. It tasted fresh and couldn't have been more perfect... the only thing that got in the way was that the cake was indeed dry. The worst culprit of this is their chocolate cake. I have never had a chocolate cake from Jarosch's be moist. Even when we have called and ordered to pick up the same day the cake has a shelf-stale taste. As for the Mocha filling yes, lots of flavor but so much we couldn't even eat the cake. I didn't realize Mocha meant straight up coffee. Don't get me wrong, I love coffee but its far too much for a cake. Also need to note a HUGE con about the fruit fillings. It by no means is fresh fruit. It is basically glorified jellies with no fruit in it at all. I don't know how they make it but I was very disappointed. I knew it would be somewhat jammed/jellied but there wasn't one piece of fruit in it. What the heck? I find it hard to believe also that none of their cakes are dry when we have ordered cakes on four-five occasions and all of those times they have been bone dry. I don't know about anyone else but I like a moist cake that doesn't need the aid of copious amounts of bland frosting to compensate for the cake's texture. Speeeeaking of the frosting. "Meh" sums of my feelings. It was boring and tasted more like straight up whipped butter than butter cream frosting. I suppose "Meh" sums up my feelings about Jarosch's. After ordering tests cakes to try with my family I have to say no, no no, not here. If you love the cakes great! But as for me I will most defiantly be going else where for my wedding cake and for occasion cakes. Who wants to spend HUNDREDS of dollars on a bone dry wedding cake? Not me.

    I wished that I never found out about this bakery because now I'm going to be here every Monday after work, all because of their wonderful red velvet donuts!!! Dark red, moist, dense, cake-y donuts covered in white glaze topped with red sprinkles! I've been thinking about them since I had my first bite of heaven 2 days ago.     A co-worker challenged me to a "Bakery Off". The challenge... go to your favorite bakery, pick up a slice of chocolate cake and 1 of their specialty cupcakes. I called Jarosch at 9:30. Mike answered. I gave him the heads up about the workplace competition. Told him what I was looking for. He hooked me up with the chocolate sour cream cake(holy awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!) and one of each cupcake. Blueberry Pancake, Snickerdoodles, Turtle, Banana Walnut, Cherry Cobbler and Red Velvet. Picked up the goods at 11 and declared the winner at 12:15! BOOM! Great bakery... AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!! Banana Walnut cupcake is what sealed the deal!

    Where the heck has this place been all of my life? SERIOUSLY??? I went in here with a full stomach as my protector, thinking "This way I will only buy only the best things and not waste money." HAHAHA, funny thought. I bought everything they had: First off, I have a sweet tooth, it actually consists of every single tooth in my mouth. I can't help it, I blame it on my mother. So I had to get their doughnuts. OMG, a simple chocolate cake doughnut is sooooo amazing. Light and fluffy but moist and delicious. I am not a cookie person, I actually don't like them at all. Their butter cookies remind me of my childhood in India. My mother used to bribe me to eat my food by bringing me butter cookies. Every day when she brought me my lunch to school, if I ate everything, I received those amazingly buttery decadent treats. I bought an entire bag full. I ate everything before I got home. I was trying to save my boyfriend some, but it didn't happen. I just forgot to mention that I visited a bakery. :) Seriously, I ate over a pound of these cookies in the time it took me to run an errand and drive home. I also bought the following gourmet cupcakes: Caramel Apple gourmet cupcake Devilish Devils Food gourmet cupcake The Blueberry pancake gourmet cupcake Pumpkin Walnut gourmet cupcake Basically all of their gourmet cupcakes for October. I ate them all in one day. I did have a huge stomach ache after eating 7000 calories in sweets. My poor boyfriend, never got a bite of anything. Well worth it. Now, it is a bit pricey but I think for an occasional treat, well worth it.

    So stressed that we were seriously considering an elopement, my (now) hubby and I were eager to finally get to one of the more 'fun' items on our list - and Jarosch ensured that the cake tasting process was just that. Upon entering, I was immediately overtaken by a wave of nostalgia. This place reminded me of the little neighborhood bakery my family frequented when I was little, complete with the cheerful staff offering up cookie samples of your choosing. We were led to a private area off of the main bakery floor, where we could comfortably sit with one of the owners to begin planning - while enjoying a complimentary cup of coffee and our sample cake (a generously sized, specially baked cake with each of the flavor combinations in which we expressed interest). The owner was extremely attentive to our likes/dislikes, and worked with us to customize a design when we weren't completely sold on what we saw in the sample books. And for all you Brides on a budget - their prices are quite reasonable (not nearly as high as some bakeries we interviewed initially). We went with the Graham Cracker cake with Chocolate Buttercream frosting, and it was Love at first bite! Truly divine! I think we got almost as many compliments on that cake as I did on my dress (and I'm pretty sure that dress compliments are something of a formality on a wedding day). Not only did it score big points in the taste department (we were repeatedly being asked about the flavor), but it was remarkably fresh. Not at all the day-old feel you sometimes get with wedding cakes. I only wish we had remembered to eat the top layer on our one-year anniversary. It was a big freezer-burned blob when we finally succumbed to throwing it out. Eh, that's the way the cookie, er, cake crumbles I suppose.

    Iconic for a reason! Jarosch bakery is family owned and operated, and it absolutely shows. We got our wedding cake from Jarosch, and the staff was just about as friendly as it gets. I, being the scatterbrained bride that I was, missed my cake tasting. They were very accommodating, and sent me home the next day with the cake they had made for me to try, along with a few different fillings. The cake was fantastic! Also--the butter cookies. Get a box for your office, and you'll be everyone's new best friend!

    Always pass this place....so one time....I went in. Nice place...alot of displays which just shows how creative the establishment gets....and alittle bit of history as well...all the way back from 1914 if I remember the dates. The key lime pie was pretty awesome. Something new that they started to make....I always see people going in and out of here....and the cool thing I liked....the door going out is automatic (incase you had something big to carry out.) I am easy to amuse I suppose, but this is a busy little place.

    Like many suburban establishments, taste is just mediocre. Not one thing has stood out from their items. Not the cookies, not the cakes, not the pastries. Will do for when you need something and you're in the neighborhood but nothing to drive out of your way for. To those who state co-workers raved: anyone taking sweets from the break room probably likes ANYTHING with sugar and butter in it. Roll up a stick of butter in sugar and they'll eat that too.

    It's not uncommon to come into work to see Jarosch cakes, danishes, cookie assortments, cupcakes and other goodies in our department considering it is only 10 mins from work. I've pretty much sampled all sorts of random items from the above mentioned. The staff here is really nice, talkative, in a good way and extremely helpful. That really made me feel comfortable as the selection can be somewhat overwhelming for someone like me who doesn't go to bakeries often. What is really nice is they sometimes come out with samples. I also was pleasantly surprised to call in a late order for cupcakes to find they had just enough for me on the way home. Whoohoo!

    Making room for the products that contain flavors and ingredients I simply don't like, Jarosch Bakery truly a 5 star bakery. They aren't a little mom and pop shop that makes certain things great for a insanely low price. They are a high end bakery where you'll pay for what you get, but because what you get is so good makes them still a value. Bad is bad so price is irrelevant because in the end you don't enjoy what you've eaten. But great is great and if it is cheap great, but if you have to pay a premier price you're getting premiere goods so it is worth it! Jarosch produces goods that are great, you eat them and enjoy them and that is that, for instance their doughnuts. Great, but in the end a great doughnut. Then they have items that are so good that between bites I have to clear my palate so that I can enjoy the next bite as much as the previous one. They are one of 3 bakeries in my 52 years on this planet that I can say that about, best of all is they are local as the other two were out of state. If you get a chance, give them a chance and I think you will be very happy with the results as they are premium!!!

    Jarosch is simply addictive. We ordered a regular yellow cake with butter cream frosting and filled with fresh strawberries. The frosting was perfect, not too sweet and overpowering like other bakeries. The yellow cake was fresh and moist. The fresh strawberries were tasty and delightful. We also ordered the cherry danish which was ridiculously good and the chocolate donut was heavenly. They have become my favorite bakery.

    What can I say that hasn't been said already! I love Jarosch!! I had been having problems with another bakery, so I asked my friends where they recommended. So many recommended Jarosch that I gave them a try. I called and placed an order for a cake for my mother's birthday. I told them I wanted a buttercream cake with fall colors. The cake was beautiful!! I picked up the cake on a Friday evening. On Saturday morning I drove to Galena where we were celebrating her birthday. When I opened up the box, my Uncle said "Oh, it's from Jarosch!!" The cake was as beautiful on Saturday evening as it was when I first picked it up from Jarosch. The cake tasted great!! I even brought a slice back home and enjoyed it the next day! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I would have liked a little more cake and a little less frosting.

    I came in with an odd request for my wedding cake...Spiderman themed. My husband and I had a geek wedding. And you know what? Jarosch did it! We even had matching cupcakes! The consultation was easy and the cake was delicious! You get such a large cake just for having the consultation! It's a whole top tier. I've even started bringing my mom in just to have some of their snacks and Irish Soda Bread around St Paddy's Day If I get married again, they're doing my cake.

    Bakeries everywhere, beware! This is a proper bakery, and it is what you should aspire to be. I needed to grab a little something for an early morning meeting, and I serendipitously happened upon this place. Let me just say that the donuts here are a mere gazzillion tiers above anything you will find at Dunkin or Crispy. They are absolutely incredible, and shamefully cheap. How the artisans that are creating these masterpieces can sell them for so little is beyond me. But they do. And trust me when I tell you, you need to get a few of these on up in ya!

    Holy shiznaz. This place is a GEM. Equivalent to a Harry Winston diamond. The bakery is located in an older run down strip mall next to Tensuke market (my sushi to go place). I decided to stop by on a whim and boy was I glad I did. Its a very strait to the point kind of bakery. No frills or fancy decorations. Just pure delicious looking baked goods. After looking around I seriously wanted to take home 3 cakes and cheese cakes but I knew that would be a bad idea. Instead I chose a brownie and a red velvet cupcake. Sprinkles used to be my favorite for red velvet for the longest time but I've converted to a Jarosch bakery fan now. The cake was so MOIST and felt like I was biting down on fluffy clouds. The frosting was just the right amount of sweet, not an overkill on the sugar and butter. I'm seriously drooling on my mac typing this. Jarosch, I will be back.

    I just really don't get all the hype! I went in here to check out their birthday cake designs and try the cupcakes to see what their cake tasted like...but ended up leaving with like $40 worth of stuff...mmmhmmm...yeah Klumps style. I tried the butter cookies, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, Swedish flop, ricotta cheesecake, regular cheesecake and maybe something else that I am not recalling. I really wasn't a fan of anything really, the cheesecake was pretty good, as was the ricotta cheesecake. But the cookies and cupcakes...drytastic! I did not like them at all, I can go to Jewel and get 6 cupcakes for the price of 3 here and they are a million times better! Again, I just don't get it...maybe I am missing something or it is something where you had to grow up on the stuff to understand the greatness, but for me...it fell short...wayyy short. The only thing I would maybe go back for is the Swedish flop for my friend's birthday or something because she adores it...other than that...I will not be back...sorry Jarosch...I really did want to love you...

    Hands down, one of the best bakeries I have ever visited. I am from the area, although live out of town now. Whenever we are passing through Elk Grove, Jarosch is a must-stop for us. The cookies are unreal, and the rye bread is the best around. I feel good supporting this local business and value the quality of the baked goods.

    I've never actually been here, but I have been enjoying their product for years now. See, my mom works nearby, and when I come in to town to visit, there is inevitably some kind of coffee cake or cookie from Jarosch at her house. It has always been drop dead fantastic. I cannot think of one thing that I have had from here that was anything short of amazing. Now, I cannot comment on price or service since I've never actually been here, but...mmmmmmmmmm. I'm hungry.

    This review is based solely on my wedding cake, I've never actually been to this bakery. OM NOM NOM NOM NOM! My wedding venue (Bartlett Hills Golf Club) includes a cake from Jarosch. At the tasting, we got to pick 3 cake bases and 2 fillings. We assumed that we would pick one of each, and that would be our wedding cake. Our tasting cake was one "mega cake" with all bases and fillings. WOW! My husband and I knew that this cake was perfect, and we were told that we could have THIS combo as our wedding cake, it wouldn't cost extra. That's exactly what we did. Marble, Yellow, and Devil's Food Cake, with mocha and rasperry filling. IT WAS SO GOOD! Our guests LOVED IT! We did not do the superstitious thing and freeze the top for our one year anniversary. We ate that cake right up, and had dessert for the first week of our marriage.

    My wife is from Chicago (Wheaton) and turned me onto this place. The location and storefront does not catch your eye but the food makes up for it. This is certainly not the kind of place you would seek out unless you already received word of mouth recommendation. They seemed to have a large staff of teenage girls that were very prompt to take your order. Everything there is outstanding whether you get a cake, doughnut, pastry etc... its all super fresh and great. Why the hell cant we have places like this down South?? Must be a midwest thing.

    Whenever I have to go visit the wicked step sister office in Elk Grove, knowing I can stop by Jarosch....makes the trip worth it. Sure I could always go to the bakery by my place but there is something about Jarosch that draws me in ALL the time.. Maybe its the Cubs cookies or the cream cheese coffee cake..I dunno...But what I do know....it is serious good! These guys do a bang up job. Its a steady stream of customers and everyone is always taking out something big. You can not walk out of there with one or two things. You just can't. Its one of those bakeries where you need willpower. You'll walk in for one cubs cookie and walk out with a box of goodies. As an added bonus..Everyone is always super nice and ready to help you.

    Too many a time have a found myself trying to stay up after a long night of work to run over to Jarosch. It's not a short drive, but it's often so worth it. The donuts are ridiculously good, as is anything else you may spot in the store. Notably, the cupcakes are awesome and change pretty often. The different combinations they come up with are incredible and often seasonally themed. Check it out, you won't regret it!

We as customers know that SERVICE is more important as well as building strong relationships with their customers. It's sad that even the owner couldn't be honest to just say....we can't do that.     We came here on a whim this past Saturday on the way back from Woodfield. We don't live anywhere in the area, though my husband does work by here and goes to the sushi joint in the same strip mall, passing this place up numerous times. Stopping in we weren't really expecting too much, but to our surprise there were a lot of fresh homemade goodies that were still left late on a Saturday afternoon. They have a good selection of a bunch of cakes, pastries, cookies and homemade donuts. We decided to try the apple and cherry delight, as well as an apricot danish. The apple and cherry delights were basically mini rustic fruit pies, with a layered butter crust (think a thicker buttery phyllo) with a coarse sugar topping. Both were good, but the apricot danish was delicious. In looking at their menu it seems they have a huge selection of other things as well, like buns, pies and coffee cakes. Since my husband works in the area, I'm sure he'll be stopping by more frequently in order to pick up other items for us to try.

    I ordered my wedding cake from Jarosch bakery and had a picture of a cake design for reference. They did a fabulous job delivering the cake to my reception with the design even better than what I had anticipated, and I was also able to choose different flavors for the different tiers of my cake. Both tiers were delicious! Throughout the planning process, they were also very easy to work with and communicated very well with me, which was imperative since my location of residence and wedding ceremony were in different states. I would highly recommend Jarosch Bakery.

    If you want to have an unrelenting orgasm in your mouth, order the chocolate banana cake. Your body will tense up... your toes will curl up... and you will let out sighs of pleasure. It is basically like Risotto Karen from Seinfeld. A food orgasm has it's own special feeling... We get all of our birthday cakes here and they are always amazing. You can get half chocolate banana, half strawberry shortcake... HOW AWESOME IS THAT!? Their other sweets are awesome too! You walk in there and look at the glass cases and think... "How much can I afford to spend in here without going broke?" The service is always very friendly... Unlike most bakeries, there are A LOT of people working so even if it is busy, you get speedy service. It is not the cheapest bakery, but it is well worth it... A small slice of cake from here far surpasses a large slice of cake from the grocery store. Remember: Chocolate Banana Cake.

    I got my wedding cake from Jarosch Bakery and was so happy with my entire experience. First the tasting, which was delicious, and they give you a whole small cake to take home as a sampler for FREE! My husband and I chose marble and graham cracker cakes (which I haven't seen anywhere else), and butter cream frosting. I came in a second time to finalize the cake design, and brought in photos after I had gotten some ideas based on their sample book during my first visit. Come wedding day and the cake looked great, and tasted amazing as well. It was perfect. And the pricing was great too, compared to other bakeries I did tastings with, they were almost half the price but I don't feel like I sacrificed anything. I would definitely recommend Jarosch to any bride. I plan to get cake from them again when I plan a party or something.

    The first time I came to the bakery, I felt a little lost. The dispenser to take a number is right by the door, but it's almost out of sight, so you walk right past it. I didn't see it & by the time I realized I needed a number, three people had already walked in and grabbed a number before me. So I had to wait even longer to be helped. TAKE A NUMBER RIGHT AWAY! They are on the right when you first walk in! I got a few special items for Valentine's Day and they were all amazing! Strawberry shortcake, strawberry cheesecake, bon bons, all great! I also needed to order a cake for my daughter's dedication at church. The lady who was taking my order didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. She kept having to go back & ask questions. I am glad she asked, that's how you learn. She seemed scattered, probably nervous about taking the order. But the order was placed and when I picked it up a few days later, it was exactly what I ordered! :) it looked and tasted great! It was pretty expensive though. Not sure if I'd order cakes from them for every special occasion because of the cost. But I have been back several times for other bakery items! I'm giving them only 4 stars because I feel some of their prices are just way too high. And they may want to think about relocating the number dispenser so people can actually see it.

    I could write about how great this bakery is FOREVER. First of all, let me say that my mom has been ordering cakes from here for our family since I was a baby. I have one of the biggest sweet tooth's known to mankind! I have continued the tradition of getting cakes from here for every party we have. I live in the city and searched high and low for cakes that compare to Jarosch's and I have failed miserably. So.....I make that hour + trek each way in traffic out to Elk Grove Village just to pick up a cake from there. I am so bad that I make sure to order double the amount I need so that I can freeze and save the rest. Shhhh.....I even went to the extent of going out there at least once a month throughout my pregnancies to pick up a cake just to eat it. Yikes, one of those things where I felt like, I'm gonna get big anyways, might as well enjoy it! lol! The owner Kathy is absolutely nice. If you talk to her she is so great in offering suggestions that meet your price points. I have tried several other things they sell. Make sure to check out their huge selection of butter cookies, they are absolutely delish! As well, if you are in a pinch they have a great selection of pre-made cakes that you can walk out with. And to top it off the cakes are reasonably priced. You must try them out, you will not be disappointed!

    I am usually not one to write bad reviews. However, I came here to talk about a baby shower cake. When I walked In it was kind of dirty..I was greeted nicely by a younger girl which is always a good thing. Now. I talked to Tammy I believe about a baby shower cake and she quoted me 150 dollars! for a one tier cake with barely any design...You are kidding right? Very expensive. As I was leaving I bought 3 cupcakes. Red Velvet, Split, and Hot Chocolate. The red velvet had no flavor. The cream cheese buttercream frosting tasted like pure shortening. The split was alright. Very dry. As was the Hot chocolate. Not a lot of flavor in the cupcakes. I left not wanting to ever try it again. Eventually I found a place in Roselle that did a much better job and quoted me 150 for a 2 tier cake with any fillings and designs i want. Will never come back here which is sad because I came here as a kid and expected much better from what i remember.

And that taste would have to be great. My favorites so far are the old fashioned donuts which are so moist that you won't even bother with that glass of milk, tea or coffee.     Delicious cakes. Very moist, beautifully decorated, frosting and fillings are fresh. Their butter cream is light and fluffy and not gritty & overly sweet. I prefer the whip cream cakes, but will not turn away the butter cream from Jarosch. I've never order anything from this bakery and been unhappy, thought I wasn't a big fan of the frozen liquor cakes ( but that is more about my taste preference, It's still the same moist cake). I guarantee you that people will go back for seconds. This place blows Deerfield's out of the water. They can get crowded on Saturdays, so go in with some idea of what you want or get there early. Their customer service can be unpredictable, but no one has ever been overtly rude, they are just a very busy bakery...

    The best baked goods I've found in the NW burbs. Anything from cookies to sweet rolls, specialty cakes and seasonal favorites, they do it all, they even did our wedding cake. Even though we no longer live in Elk Grove Village, we always stop when in the area, and pick up some of the best eclairs ever. Well worth the trip. People I know have been going there since the early '60s, so that speaks a lot for their quality.

    Wow, this definitely seems like a love it or hate it kind of place. For the most part, I'm definitely on the "love it" side. I've been told that their traditional wedding cakes tend to be on the way dry side (my niece did a cake tasting and ended up going with Toni Marie's Sweets, the same place that I got my cake-FAB). I got their strawberry layer cake for my dad's 70th birthday because I was told that they've got great specialty cakes. Holy cake, Batman, this is an amazingly off the charts delicious cake! It was $13, not pricey in my book, and it fed 8 people generously. I've definitely recommended this place to friends and will continue to recommend their specialty cakes, without a doubt. Their cookies are just meh. The store is relatively small & they've been busy most times that I've been in. The customer service is alright, nothing too terrible thus far. All in all, this is a solidly good bakery for special occasions, just stay away from the wedding cake.

    Jarosch made our wedding cake, special order. We asked for it to be in the shape of books--and it really turned out to be spectacular. Also, it tasted great! We transported the cake ourselves and Jarosch gave us great tips on how to keep the cake safe in our vehicle. The price was very reasonable for a wedding cake--especially one that is special ordered to look like something other than a traditional cake. Plus, we got a whole cake to take home during our taste-testing.

    For me, this is the best bakery in the greater Chicagoland area. Actually, since I was pretty much raised on it, I've yet to find a bakery ANYWHERE that lives up to its standards. Everything is amazing - the cookies, the cakes, and all other pastries. My favorites are the sugar cookies with icing, and pretty much any of the little cookies you can choose from (especially the round ones with the huge dollop of chocolate and sprinkles on top.) Any type of cake I've had from here has been the best cake I've ever had. The cake is soft and moist, and the icing is rich but light at the same time. And the fillings are good too. Anyway, best bakery I know of. Hands down.

    Okay, you're probably all thinking 2 things: (1) gee, she really hits those bakeries and (2) gee, this place is not even Italian. Well, in my defense, I was picking up a specialty cake for tonight's Hawks game for my cousin (hostess of the game). Nonetheless, with my godson in tow, off we went to Jarosch. I must say that they did a beautiful job on the cake and it was fabulous looking. My "helper", of course, required some sustenance and he chose a a carrot cake cupcake, plus a happy smiley face butter cookie (a really good sized one too) for later. Or so he said. The service there was excellent and what I did learn was that they have this new monthly thing for specialty cupcakes. And I don't blame them for getting on the cupcake band wagon because from what I could see and smell, they are divine. Said "helper" let me in on his carrot cake cupcake and it was great, inside and out. Further, they do the traditional Easter bunny cake but what I thought was so cute was that they also had these little mini Easter bunny cakes in pastels. Very sweet, no pun intended. So, this is a keeper; and I will definitely use them in the future. P.S. One added point, they seem very caring of those allergic to peanuts. They do not use them in their baked goods; they use almonds. Although, one has to be cautious, nevertheless.

    I deleted my previous review (which was also 5 stars) in order to do an updated one. The bottom line is this: if you want a top quality cake in the 'burbs, it's either Deerfield Bakery or Jarosch. It's a very short list. Jarosch did my wedding cake, which we received many compliments on at the time. When my daughter's 3rd birthday recently approached, I faced the eternal dilemma: go on the cheap (i.e. Jewel) or splurge. We got a Deerfield's cake last year and were pleased with it. While people told me kids aren't big cake eaters and aren't connoisseurs (true), the fact is - aside from our wedding and our daughter's birthday - we don't ever buy formal party cakes. I thought this occasion called for a splurge: not the least for the fact that I knew we'd have leftovers. Meaning, I'm the one who'd be eating them. And I can appreciate a quality cake. I wanted a Dora the Explorer cake, and did some research. To my shock, one place *cough*OakMillBakery*cough* quoted me a price of $94.50 for a half sheet cake. Outrageous. Next. I did check out Jewel and found what I wanted would be about $56. I called Jarosch and got a total of $46.95, plus $8.50 for the Dora plastic figurines (no other bakery even offered that as an option). Jarosch for the win. The friendly woman who took my order over the phone detailed my options. I let them pick the color scheme, and I wasn't disappointed. It was the most beautiful cake. And, of course, it was delicious. The chocolate buttercream filling was light and airy, unlike storebought cakes I've had. Guests enjoyed it. Days later, I continue to enjoy it. Jarosch does need a different pick-up system. My husband went on a jammed Saturday morning (day before Mother's Day), and there was one line: for people placing orders, and people picking up. He waited about 25 minutes before he could pay and leave. When my daughter is older, I hope she'll look back fondly on her childhood birthday parties and special occasions.     Delicious! Hard to find this style of bakery, these days! Cookies are so so but the coffee cakes and donuts are divine. But, you should have an idea of what you're looking for prior to going in because its super busy and MANY choices. I'd have to say though that some of the servers there can be rude. I've felt belittled for not knowing the selections (and they change day to day) and I don't think that's necessary. Not everyone who goes there are seasoned Jarosche customers who know the whole selection. The younger workers are always great and very helpful. There will be a day when it'll be more young people shopping there vs an older population and the younguns might not come back because of the service (and the prices which are high) I would hate for that to happen because its delicious.

    I visited today to order 2 cakes for 2 occasions after looking at the yelp reviews. I must say- DISAPPOINTED. They get 1 star for the cookie I got. Other than that, no stars- The girl helping us was cluesless. And we waited 10 mins to see the 'manager' who was right there, busy talking to the employees. So I asked the girl helping us originally, to call me back after she talked to her BUSY MANAGER. Never got a call back. Too bad, I spent all this time ordering, and this happened. I'll just be looking for another bakery. Oh well....

    Great baked goods have a timeless quality: Jarosch proves that at their wonderfully large and busy bakery in Elk Grove Village. Recently came here on the recommendation of coworkers who bring boxes and waxed paper packages of delicious baked goods, splashed with unapologetic 1950s style. The paczki here are filled with intense fruit fillings like apricot, lemon, strawberry, prune, peach. Also got a very good spinach feta rolled bread and will go back for a ricetop bread, possibly an accommodation to the many Japanese neighbors in the area. There are racks and racks of breads, cakes, cookies, donuts and sweets of all sorts, too much to take in at one time. Worth revisiting.

    This is a small but very good bakery. Don't let the exterior of the worn down strip mall deceive you. I've been there many times and each time they have met (and sometimes exceeded) my expectations. Best part about this bakery is the wide assortment and choices to choose from. Sometimes I find myself struggling to decide what I am going to get at each visit; everything is so good and freshly baked. It is a type of bakery that keeps you coming back for more.

    It takes a lot for me to give out 5 stars, but I must give Jarosch all five. I walked in and was overwhelmed by all of the choices. The aromas of freshly baked pastries permeated the air. Incredible! This bakery has doughnuts, cakes, large pastries, individual pastries and danishes, butter cookies, face cookies, candies, etc. They have such a wide variety of goodies and it's all baked fresh daily. I let the ladies know it was my first time in there, that I was from out of town, and wanted to stop in for a sampling of sweets. I went on to say, "I don't mean I'm asking for samples... but just that I would like to get a few different things." One of the ladies (probably manager or owner) told the girl behind the counter to grab a few butter cookies for me to try. She brought me 3 different little cookies (they're bite-sized). These butter cookies aren't your ordinary butter cookies. They are dipped in chocolate, sprinkles, regular white icing, pink icing, etc. They melt in your mouth. The chocolate is high quality. I didn't know what to get... so many of the coffee cakes looked good, but you had to buy the entire thing. I ended up getting a yellow smiley face cookie, a few assorted butter cookies, and a chocolate chip danish/pastry. I have tried a bite out of pretty much everything and it's all quite tasty. My favorite is the chocolate chip pastry. Wow! This place is seriously dangerous. Also, the prices are VERY reasonable. The cookie was $1.10 and the pastry was $1.40 (I think). I can't think of a single bakery that has better baked goods for the low prices as Jarosch does. Go here! Get some pastries on your way to the office. Your coworkers will love you!

    I may be a bit biased, as I worked at Jarosch when I was a teenager over 30 years ago, but this is definitely the best bakery in the Chicago area. I no longer live in Elk Grove - but we make a point of stopping at Jarosch when we're in the area. My dad and brother still live in Elk Grove. A lot has improved there, too, since I worked there in the early to mid 1970's. It expanded to twice the size it was when I worked there and it's definitely cleaner and more attractive than it used to be. Most of what they sell hasn't changed since I was a kid, though - and that's a good thing! They definitely are artists when it comes to their decorated cakes. We would always drive up to Elk Grove to get our daughter's birthday cakes. I've yet to find any bakery that comes close.

    I think Jarosch has to be the best all-around bakery I have found in the Chicagoland area. I have purchased their cakes, cookies, pies and bread and have NEVER been disappointed. True, the cookies will set you back (I think the last time I went they were $14.99 a pound) but seriously, I have yet to find a match for the buttery texture and perfect frosting on the half-dips. My favorite is the dark brown with pink frosting and sprinkles. They literally melt in your mouth. A friend of mine grew up around here and claims the pumpkin pie is also the best! I think the cakes are unique - a lot of choices you won't find elsewhere and it is clear they haven't been sitting there for days either - and don't have disgusting lard-sugar frosting on them - another sign of a "mass production" attitude bakery.     My family has been getting our cakes from here for as long as I can remember. They have EXCELLENT cakes! We love the buttercream frosting, and the german chocolate cake is delish! They are great about doing tours and stuff for girlscout/boyscout troops! They have good cookies and the staff is always very friendly!! You've gotta try this place!!

    I always go here when I want to treat myself to some calories! I got my boyfriend's birthday cake from here last year and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD YUMMY! They personalized every bit of the cake and were very efficient. I will prob do it again for him this year. I did not give it 5 stars b/c whenever I do go here the punk highschoolers lack good customer service skills and if you've read any of my reviews CS is HUGE w/ me.

    I grew up 5 minutes from this place. I remember getting the elephant ears as a kid. I love their cakes, coffee, cakes and cookies. They don't usually have much of a donut selection, but what they do have is delicious. They are the quintessential family owned bakery that every town needs.

    Better than most bakeries- especially better than the few suburban bakeries out there. Jarosch is consistent, and can be pricey depending on what you get- I always compare to my own baking- if I can bake it, don't expect me to pay a lot at a bakery. I picked up a really good 7"strawberry whip cream cake a week ago and I think it was around 12 dollars- well worth it. Their cinnamon raisin bread is a crowd pleaser.

    Growing up, my birthday cake was always from Jarosch, and as a result I'm spoiled for life. Get that nasty Jewel/Dominick's cake with the chemical-y tasting frosting away from me! I want the real stuff from Jarosch!

    I have had varying experiences with Jarosch. They are very limited in their cake designs (for example, they could not make a carnival ribbon style decoration for my daughter's cake - I had to order it from etsy). Also, they lost my son's order somewhere and good thing I went in the day before to confirm they were ready for my son's cake order the next morning. It took them 20 minutes to find it as it was misplaced. They misplaced the figurine we special ordered for my daughter's cake so when we had the cake delivered to our house by my parents the figurine was missing (it had a 4 on it so useless for the next birthday). They also insisted my parents put a 2 layered cake in August in my parents trunk. By the time they got it to my house, it was completely melted and must have tipped over during the ride. My daughter's 180 dollar cake was a complete mess. My sister who is just very talented try to salvage it by plastering it with some cake icing I had at home and sticking those ribbons I bought from etsy.

    Jarosch's takes the cake! I grew up going to Jarosch's and after moving away have sought to go back again and again. While the cakes and cookies are great...their claim to fame in my book lies with their large breakfast pastry cakes - wish I knew the name. Next time you are in the vicinity - Jarosch's is worth the trip.

    I came here for my husband's b'day cake. I'm new to the area and had no clue about where to go. I live in the 'burbs and was not finding any niche bakeries to go to and was not looking forward to getting the cake from a grocery store, or baking it myself. I Yelped and took a chance on this bakery. The first time I walked in I was a little disappointed by the visual appeal. And, I had no clue they had a number system and that there was a ticket dispenser at the door. I suspect most people who walk in don't. (Btw, I took a number the next few visits but looked like no of the other customers bothered!). So, again, not very visually helpful (hence the 4 stars). I stood there looking a little confused and after about 5 minutes a salesperson took pity on me. I told her I wanted to discuss a custom cake and needed to talk to someone. She directed to me to a very friendly lady with whom I discussed for over 20 minutes the details of cake batter, fillings, decorations and flavors. I don't know her name, but she was really friendly and eager to listen to my obviously naiive cake-related questions. We went over the pricing details, and one advice, you need to be prepared to spend $50+ at the least for a custom cake. I spent $80 (including hand decoration of $20) and it was worth every cent! The cake was fantastic, and I got great reviews of it at the party. The decorators had used the color-printout I'd given them and really did a good job. They added (to my surprise) a bunch of roses at one end which was cute/funny because my cake had a golf theme and it was the Pebble Beach 13th hole putting green. They'd made sand bunkers with brown sugar! I wish they had given me a golf flag to go with it. The cake was light and fluffy and the fillings/icing perfectly complemented each other. I would definitely recommend this bakery to my friends.

    If you're looking for fluffy, not-too-sweet cheesecake, this is the place to go. Their $11 (differs slightly by weight) cheesecake loaf, only available on Tuesdays and Fridays (i think it was), has been a staple at our house ever since we moved back to IL. Other authentic German sweets and danishes are also very good. The cookies just crumble in your mouth (sooo buttery)!!

    This is THE place to get any sweets you desire. My company uses them on a daily basis to pick up tasty treats to take on calls with us to clients. Also, if you need a cake w/custom wording - you can call and get same day service for $7 for a small cake (that feeds 9ppl!!) You can't beat that! They have the best little cookies, this is true, in a variety of selections but they are about $12 a pound and that can add up fast. Stop in here sometime, you won't be disappointed!

    I grew up near there, in Hoffman Estates. When I was 4 we moved away and have plenty of bakeries much closer by.... but I don't know if I've ever gone to another. I mean, yeah, to pop in and grab an elephant ear, I've probably done that.... but for holidays and special events, it's always Jarosch. From coffeecakes, to regular cakes, to pastries, to cookies.... you just can't miss.

    This bakery is a great place to get cakes special made for big occassions. They do not really have fresh baked goods in quantity so make sure you order well in advance for any occassion. The cakes here look wonderful and are delicious as well!

    The reason I am giving this place a 3 stars is because they give sooo much aggrevation when I tried to order my cake for my sons birthday! First of all I went in there all prepared with how I wanted my sons cake to look. I even ordered $100 piece to on top of that. I wanted a 3 tier cake but I wanted fresh fruit inside! Well they said they cant put the fresh fruit in there because it needs to be regrigerated and it is a tiered cake. WHATEVER! so then I said okay fine I will do the number 1 and they told me I couldnt put fresh fruit in there either! Well its not a tiered cake so what kind of excuse do you want to give me now? Then they said well any numbers we can do that either. Now I am thinking what kind of place is this???? Dont get me wrong they have great tasting cakes and they are fresh but if I have to deal with this then I dont think I am going to be back for a very long time. I was going to drive to OakMill bakery because they have very very comparable cakes and now that I think about it I should have just went there. They were able to do exactly what I wanted with my sons cake but I didnt want to make the drive to Harlem Ave. I just thnk that they can do a little better with putting fresh fruit in the cakes that customers want. That is just my opinion.
